I was out and about yesterday morning and game across this little gem of a shot. Okay maybe only I think so, but I happen to like it quite a bit. I’ve always been amazed that if you just keep your eyes open to possibilities what you might see. This barn sits in the middle of a historic district, though I’m not even sure if this is a historic barn.

Hey everyone! Was shooting a lacrosse game again this week. A tip I had learned from +Scott Kelby was to take sometime a few images of the surroundings during a stop in action. I came upon this gem while during a halftime which a player had conveniently placed on the field. BTW this image was processed using Color Efex Pro and Photoshop CS 6 Beta.

Lacrosse Helmut

Hey there! Well to be frank I didn’t know a thing about Lacrosse till about 8 months ago. Of course I still pretty much know next to nothing, but I’m working on it. The lingo is a lot different than what I’m accustomed too. (Former Soccer player here) Lacrosse ends up being a pretty fast paced sport that is going to take me awhile to get used to. Until I do I’m going to shoot stuff that doesn’t move so much. Like these cool lacrosse sticks.

Hi Everyone, was able to spend some quality time with the family this weekend over at Burke Lake Park. They have the best little train that takes you on a nice ride through the park. The Engine just began running for the season and we weren’t going to miss out on it. We are hoping to make a trip out there again real soon.

Okay so this WASN’T supposed to be a revealling fact that I’m horribly absentminded. The fact of the matter is that I am, or as my family tells me I could be ADD. I kind of believe they are right. So yesterday I completely forgot my trusty Nikon P7000 which I like to keep in the car. Well today I was NOT going to forget it no way no how. As I ran out the door this morning and got to Route 29 I whipped out my P7000 fired off 4 shots while sitting at a stop light only to get and out of memory error. I knew this just couldn’t be right at all. There had to be some mistake, and of course there was a mistake. I had forgotten to put the memory card back when I took out it the other day. The 4 shots I was able to snap off were due to the internal memory in the camera. So not to be completely ticked off I grabbed my Galaxy Nexus and fired off a couple more shots. The resulting post processing courtesy of Instagram. Thank you again my Galaxy Nexus and thank you Instagram. I truly hope I don’t make a habit of this.

Hey everyone….as I continue you my trek along Route 29 in Virginia I sometimes have moments that I am so lost in my thoughts (or perhaps just absent minded) that I actually forget my camera. Today was one of those days. I did happen to have my Galaxy Nexus and my new Instagram App. I’m still not sure what I think of it. But when you’ve got nothing else. Well then any camera will do, right?

Okay so I’m on this new kick I think. I’ve been driving this particular road every Thursday morning for a couple of months now. Route 29 takes me right through the Manassas Battlefield. While I sit in traffic I’ve seen so many interesting images in my head, and hadn’t actually taken out my camera to shoot any of them. “WHY?” Because its pretty hard to drive and shoot images, that’s why.

I keep my Nikon Coolpix P7000 in the car 5 days a week. (Read Monday thru Friday) and when an opportunity presents itself I just snap images away. Most of them are pretty lame, this particular one certainly isn’t top notch, but I like it.

Howdy everyone, it wasn’t really a stormy day, it was quite nice actually. This photo was shot early morning near the Manassas Battlefield. I’ve passed this spot several times and had hoped that one day I’d be stuck in traffic exactly where I was. Well I was stuck in traffic, whipped out my handy Nikon Coolpix P7000 and let ‘er rip. I still think the P7000 takes WAY to long to write to disk. But heck I was stuck in traffic I wasn’t going anywhere. The image was actually edited on my iPad using that ever so popular Snapseed.

Yeah I know this is late, but it’s been a very busy holiday. I was fortunate enough to be asked to photograph a Mother Daughter Christmas Tea. This occasion was really special, Mother and Daughters taking time to be away from those grumpy old men folk. Thankfully I was one of two “boys” that were invited, the most important one of course was Santa Claus. The image below doesn’t really do justice to Santa Claus. I can tell you this, I was throughly convinced that I actually got to shake THE Santa Claus’ hand.

Was covering a charity event lastnight with +Kimberly Courtney at the Willis Foundation for an amazing charity Http://nicksplace.org. During a “break” in shooting I had some great conversation that led to discussing photography techniques for shooting landscapes. After I threw in my two cents the gentelman I was speaking with blurted out “+Scott Kelby right, I own a most of his books” I just smiled and responded that Scott has been my “mentor”, he just doesn’t know it. I like to think that I’m the ONLY one that reads and studies +Scott Kelby ‘s books. Its like my own little secret. Well guess that “Scott” is out of the bag now. Oh and +Glyn Dewis he’s my other “secret” mentor, he just doesn’t know it either!
