Sewing Gem
Every once in awhile you stumble on a little gem. This time it happens to be an antique sewing machine. I did a little “work” on this one using Niksoft’s HDR. I gotta admit I love it, of course I used it in conjunction with Photoshop. I will spare you all the details. I will probably end up doing a Photoshop tutorial on it at some point.
Until next time,

Ducks at a Pony party
Hey everyone,
Well its been awhile since we’ve actually posted an image that didn’t come with a tutorial. But there is a lesson here, so don’t fret.
I had the most AWESOME time at a birthday party this past weekend in a Central Virginia. The guest of honor had her birthday party at a super cool little farm with – you guest it Ponies. There wasn’t just ponies that this here party. No Sirre! There were also ducks, three of that I think. So here are two of them, – oh the lesson. Where there are ponies there are ducks. (Yeah I know that makes no sense at all, but maybe if you take just a bit of time and take in your surroundings you will see there is more than just what you “thought” was there)
Until next time,
Hokie Chevy
As cool as the Hokie’s are, come on lets face it most of us don’t know what a Hokie is. Okay I do, but I ain’t telling you. If it wasn’t obvious I got to go with a friend to see Va Tech play football this past weekend. I have to admit, it was really fun and exciting. You can feel the electricity in the air in Downtown Blacksburg. Everywhere we looked there was a sea of orange and maroon, and only a smattering of blue. (That was the visting team, boo hiss) So, full disclosure – this was my first time attending a college football game. Yes I am a college football newbie. I never “got” what it meant to be a college football fan, or for that matter a Hokie. Hokie’s are like REAL fans, like fan FANS. They take their football seriously. As we made our way to the stadium we past several locations where fans tailgate. SUV’s and sedans of all sorts, tents, banners, grills, and satellite dishes (Yes satellite dishes). All the things you would expect at a good tailgate. But what left me somewhat stunned is to what lengths a real fan will go to. As I was strolling around the tailgating area, rolling in comes what appears to be a 2-door convertible Maroon and White 57′ Chevy. Including a few decals along the side proudly displaying the driver’s Hokie roots. I’m guessing that isn’t a factory paint job. Oh yeah and did you know, in the early 1990s, the value of meticulously restored ’57 Chevy convertibles was as high as $100,000. I wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t a few out there that would gladly drop 100 Grants for this Chevy dream.

Changing things up
Hi everyone, I’m sure you’ve ALL been wondering what we’ve been up to here at good old TiNi Images.
Actually we’ve been pretty busy and have decided to try adding to our collection of works. We recently had a chance to work with someone who was gracious enough to let us take her picture. One of the first things we want to say is that the entire shoot was done with minimal amount of photo gear.
- Nikon D300 w/MB-D10 battery back
- Nikon 18-200mm 3.4 len w/hood
- Lastolite 24″x24″ Ezybox hotshoe softbox
- Nikon SB-800 Speedlight (used in the softbox)
- SD-8A Speedlight battery pack
Ya see…not so much stuff.

The Safari Truck
Hi everyone, its been awhile since we’ve posted. Mostly because I’ve been working on a side project and I’m not sure if its something we will be posting here. However, while working on this side project we came across this Photoshop plugin called Topaz Adjust. WOW, this thing is way slick. I’ll save you all the technical speak, take a look the image below. It will give you a sense of what it can do. Oh and yeah, that is an African Safari looking truck. We were at a place called – well “Out of Africa Safari” its a pretty cool place at Camp Verde, AZ. Anyways check out Topaz Labs, I mean that’s why I’m actually writing this post.

The Ghost town of Jerome, AZ
Hi Everyone!
Well as stated in a prior post there is much more in Arizona than the Grand Canyon, take Jerome, AZ. Its supposed to be a Ghost town, one of the largest actually. To read up more on Jerome check out the Jerome website. This image was captured just as you enter the the town itself. It kind of gives you an idea of what to expect, just don’t be expecting a ghost town. Well at least not in the literal sense. Jerome happens to be a town that reemerged as a community in what was a copper mining town that was almost forgotten. Its a really neat place I suppose I could have spent a lot more time in Jerome. I suspect there are a lot of hidden treasures that I didn’t get to see. Hopefully I will get a chance to go back there someday. In the mean time check out our Jerome gallery.

Grand Canyon Perch
One of the coolest things about being a photographer is seeing the look on people’s faces when they see your images and it creates a reaction in them. It doesn’t always have to be a positive reaction, almost any reaction will do. Sometimes they will look at an image and criticize it for its technical details, or flaws. Take this one for example, the horizon is crooked. Yes I could have fixed it in Photoshop or Lightroom, but I opted not to. The horizon on this particular image is crooked because of where I was standing, or rather I should say perched. To make it simple I was probably someplace most people would not have ventured to take a photo. Not saying that makes me a better photographer, or that this is even a good image. Part of why photographers shoot, is to bring moments to life. To help the viewer see and feel what the photographer saw, or perhaps the image the photographer is trying to convey. For this one, well its just a selfish image really. I didn’t fix the horizon because I wanted to remember that little place I was perched to take this image.

Grand Canyon Snake
Yeah I know what you’re thinking, what WAS I THINKING right? I probably shouldn’t have gotten that close to the snake, but heck a bunch of kids were running around taking pictures of it. I had to, too, right?
